Hammer and Heart is a public benefit company that was founded by Cindy Firestone, a home health and hospice nurse and former residential general contractor, who saw the need for options. Over the years, Cindy has provided in-home care for hundreds of people, as well as some of her own family members.
“I’ve seen too many people who have experienced a fall, become disabled, or developed a chronic illness, ending up having to move away from the comfort of their own home and loved ones to a place they are unfamiliar with. With some simple home modifications, they could have remained in the home they love, with the people they love. We strive to give you creative solutions that inspire autonomy and independence in your own home.” Cindy Firestone.
Cindy is driven to help people both by experiences with past patients and clients, but also from personal experiences. You can read about one of them in our Fall Prevention post.
Cindy has a master’s degree in Gerontology/Aging Services, is a licensed nurse and residential general contractor in the State of Oregon, and is a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS). She also completed the prestigious Executive Certificate in Home Modifications program from USC.
